Learn more about Brush Break. About Erwin and Joëlle. Their mission and how they try to make others happy.

Teachers

We are Erwin and Joëlle. Married, Christians and parents of two creative daughters. We are both teachers. Both qualified for primary and secondary school.  We studied Theology and Philosophy in Belgium and are living in the Netherlands at the moment. In the midst of pelvic pain, when Joëlle had to sit for months, something special grew... It was time for a break. Many ideas on how to make easy art came into existence. We tested it in our classes and all students, parents, colleagues got excited.

We knew we had to share it with the world, so we have made hundreds of step-by-step plans to help others make easy art. Our Dutch website, brushjuf.com, shows them all. We have translated some of them in English.

Mission

Our mission is to make people happy. We have seen that little art breaks make people happy. Our students were trying even to stay inside during breaks. And many children and adults at home found joy in using brush pens. And since the easy art is nice for young and old, it is a perfect for generations to spend time together. We love to share this with so many others.

We feel like this project is something bigger. Like it makes visible what is truly meaningful. That is can restore people and relationships. It leads to amazement. It can point to what is really true.

Brush teachers

Many other teachers became enthusiastic about the concept. Eight primary school teachers in the Netherlands and Belgium are officially implementing the materials in their classes. We call them Brush Teachers. There students love working with brush pens, fineliners, acrylic markers and washi tapes. We hope many more teachers and creative people at home will discover the joy of making easy art!
